Young girl tells her mum who her favourite queen is, and it'll warm your heart
Our kids grow up watching movies filled with royalty.
Princes, princesses, queens and kings, it's a world full of fairytale and our kids want to be a part of it.
They dress up in their outfits, sing the songs and sometimes wish they too were a prince or princess.
So when Brea Schmidt's toddler informed her mum who her favourite queen was, it was quite a refreshing revelation.
Writer at The Thinking Branch, Brea was having a normal chit chat with her daughter.
Her youngster asking who mum's favourite princesses were, Brea engaging, saying she prefers Belle and Ariel.
But her little girl was different, declaring: "I like Elsa, Anna and Belle. And then Moana, Rapunzel and Sofia."
The mum-of-three was surprised to hear so many names, however her daughter had a bigger surprise in store.
"You know who my favourite queen is? Me: Who? Her: You. You're my favourite queen."
Mulling over her daughter's thoughts, Mum believes her little one confused the headband she always wears for a crown.
"Maybe she thought this headband I always wear to keep my hair out of my face while I do 'all the things' was actually a crown. Well, shoot … maybe I should start thinking so too."
"Because wouldn't my soul feel a lot different if I stopped looking at my head-banded self in the mirror as 'that mum' who isn't putting enough into her appearance – and instead see 'that mum' whose kids see her as their queen."
But not stopping there, Brea ponders that perhaps we should treat ourselves like queens too, and we think she's right.
And why not? Because every mama is a queen – we're all on the same path.
