Teen Years

You will not believe what a teacher is doing for her students - we're in awe

Menstrual cycles are a killer – mainly because when you're a tween, you don't know when it's going to strike.

You have being told the ins and outs of what to expect, but when you're in the middle of your school day it isn't the nicest of feelings for any young girl.

Kristen Heavner remembers how it felt to be in school when her period struck.

The teacher feels she can relate to the students predicament of not being prepared enough, or having to wait in line at the head office for pads.

So instead of the young girls feeling embarrassed about the natural turn of events, Kristen has come up with a small gesture to help.

Using her old, but pretty, make-up bags, the middle-school teacher fills them with tampons, pads, panty-liners and sealed wipes.

When a teen unexpectedly gets her period during school time they can go to Kristen, without the feeling of embarrassment lingering over them.

"The students know that they can come ask, and they get a really pretty bag with their needed supplies inside."

"It's discreet and more fun than being handed a giant pad. I make sure to tell them to take as much as they may need for the whole day. I make a point to ask if they need more to take home," added Kristen.

The simplicity of what this teacher has done is amazing considering how monumental the transition is for young teens.

Never rule out how even the smallest of thoughts can help someone's day become a little brighter.
