Wow! Teenager wins lottery - and gives the money to his parents
And people say teenagers are selfish…
A 19-year-old won an incredible half a million dollars on an instant scratch-off game, but rather than spend his money on fancy holidays and cars, he gave most of it to his parents.
The teen from Williamston, Michigan, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought a $10 Golden Wild Time ticket at a petrol station in Lansing.
According to the Independent, the young adult scratched the card there and then and initially thought cashiers were joking when they said he'd won $500,000 (€460,000).
But they weren't.
However, the 19-year-old kept just $5K (€4,000) for himself to invest, and gave the rest to his mum and dad.
"My parents have done so much for my sister and me," he said in a statement.
"Helping them takes a big weight off of their shoulders and mine.”
Fair play to him!
