Women do (a crazy) 23 HOURS of chores to prep for Christmas Day
If you’re putting the finishing touches to your pudding, cleaning out the grout in the bathroom or wrapping your final presents, it’ll come as no surprise that it takes 23 HOURS for us women to prepare for Christmas Day.
Yep, a UK-based study of 1000 women by Wallis has shown just how hard we graft in order to make the big day as special as possible.
31 per cent of us will spend six hours scrubbing the house, and another six hours preparing and cooking Christmas dinner, while for one-in-four women, running Mum’s Taxi and doing errands will take up another precious seven hours.
We feel tired just thinking about it.
And the worst part is that we’re putting ourselves under pressure to create this mythical ‘perfect Christmas Day’. 56 per cent of women surveyed say their stress levels hit seven out of 10 or greater over Christmas, while 18 per cent affirm that it’s the most stress-filled month of the year.
And it’s not just self-induced pressure, 34 per cent of respondents say they’re even pressured by their family to deliver the perfect Christmas.
Now we do love making Christmas special for our family, but it’s true that the pressure and stress can get too much. We just hope they’re appreciative of all the hard work we put it, and let us put our feet up after the last dinner plate has been cleared. In fact, we’re going to insist on it.
