Winter Funderland is here! Why it’s THE best Crimbo day out...
For Irish families, particularly those in Dublin and the surrounding areas, when Funderland comes to town it’s really Christmas.
Which happily coincides with the fact we mums have the whole of the holidays to entertain the kids – eek!
Yep, Winter Funderland is back in the RDS from 15 December, and with rides, an ice rink and a continental Christmas market, it has to be THE most festive family day out. Here’s why we love it:
There are rides for ALL ages
Winter Funderland is set on three and a half acres inside the RDS, so that means there are heaps of rides. So whether you want to take your ‘too cool’ teenagers for a bonding day out, or you’re trying to occupy some smaller ones, you’ll be sorted.
And this year they’re pulling all the stops out with loads of different attractions straight from Germany how are you, like the pretty thrilling sounding Eclipse, Break Dance and Star Flyer, as well Ireland’s only looping rollercoaster, the Funderland Loop.
The Christmas Market is magic
There’s nothing more Christmassy than strolling through the Continental markets, the gorgeous festive scents of glühwein, cinnamon churros and hot chocolate mingling in the air.
Winter Funderland’s Christmas Market is the perfect place to while away a cold evening with the family – whether you’re indulging in some of the delicious festive fare on offer, or strolling through the wooden chalets to pick up some unique Christmas gifts.
It’s got Ireland’s ONLY outdoor ice rink
And it’s huge! Who needs the Rockefeller Centre when we’ve got Winter Funderland’s iSkate-on-Ice? Covering more than 1000 Sq. metres, iSkate-on-Ice, is brilliant for adults and teens, and it even has a kiddie rink for children from age three upwards.
Oh, and if you’re worried the littles will slip, there are balancing aids and double-bladed skates available too.
