"Will you adopt me?" Step-mother gets the best Christmas present ever

A young woman has literally made Christmas for her step-mother by asking her to adopt her.

The heartwarming video which was shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page shows Marissa Thamann handing her step-mother, Heather Thamann a wrapped present.

Marrisa lost her birth mother when she was just three-months-old, and has been cared for by her father and soon-to-be adoptive mother since the age of four.

“After 17 years, I finally asked her to legally become my mother on Christmas morning," the teenager said in the clip.

“Her face says it all."

And how she did it is truly heartwarming.

The teenager gave Heather a small box as a gift, which contained a beautiful Christmas ornament with a photo of her daughter and herself.

However, the biggest surprise of all came when the mum turned the decoration over – momentarily disturbed by one of her son's farting – to read the words: "Will you adopt me" on the back.

Explaining that the adoptions papers have been signed, Marissa tells her mother, “You just have to sign 'em”.

Overcome with emotion, Mrs. Thamann tells her step-daughter: “I’ve been waiting for so long…I didn’t want to do it on my own.”

The video has since gone viral, having been shared 5532 times, with 1.4 million views and 54,000 likes.

Commenting on Love What Matters post, Heather thanked the users for their comments.
