We're melting: how one special doll has lit up a little girl's life
Every child is different, unique in their own way. Some of these differences might be physical, they could even be considered anomalies.
Little Charlie has a face defect called infantile hemangioma, meaning that she has red liaisons on her face.
Recently, however, her mother Katie did something very special for her little girl. She got her a doll with the exact same facial feature as her.
The beam on her little face would melt even the stoniest of hearts.
Speaking to Love What Matters, Katie explained that she's always been quite outspoken in raising awareness for infantile hemangioma:
"As Charlie's mom, I have always been outspoken about her facial defect (infantile hemangioma), and advocated for acceptance and awareness. Up until very recently, Charlie has been blissfully unaware that she has an extra feature which makes her unique."
Katie contacted the makers of bespoke dolls, to see if they could make a special doll for Charlie.
"Not only did she agree to make a custom doll for Charlie, she offered it as a gift, no strings attached.
She asked for a photo of Charlie's face and some other preferences, such as hair, clothes, and shoes. When she finished, I could not believe how detailed the doll's birthmark was, and how much it looked exactly like Charlie!"
Katie was so blown away by the doll-maker's talent and kindness, that she couldn't wait until Christmas to give Charlie her new doll:
"When I gave the doll to Charlie, her eyes lit up—she immediately touched her cheek and smiled. Now, Charlie has a baby doll that looks JUST like her, thanks to Little Plain Jane!"
She continued to say that Charlie was thrilled with her doll:
"Charlie hasn't put the doll down since I gave it to her; and named her (all by herself): Princess Cheek. This is the most wonderful gift we could have received this Christmas. This little girl has never been happier."
We're not the only ones that are overwhelmed with emotions right now:
We have a feeling that it's going to be a good Christmas for Katie, Charlie and Princess Cheek!
