Twin homebirth doesn't go as planned, as emotional mum is brought to hospital
Kelly Kahler, and her husband Paul were delighted to learn they were adding to their family.
Kelly was pregnant again, but this time around she was bringing twins into the world.
Already parents to their toddler daughter, the couple planned a homebirth for their impending arrivals.
It was something the family had really wanted to experience, especially with Kelly's love of water.
After perfectly planning every aspect of the birth, and having the best doctors available to them, the time had come to deliver the couple's bundles of joy.
Kelly was 39 weeks and one day when she was induced, spending over 24 hours labouring in her home.
However, the Kahler's didn't have the birthing experience they so wised for, having to make the decision to leave their toddler and family members behind as they made their way to the hospital.
The emotional video shows Kelly visibly upset with the upheaval, feeling she had somehow failed, but knew going to the hospital was the right thing to do at that moment in time.
Upon their arrival at the hospital, Kelly was brought in for a C-section, where she brought two beautiful babies into the world.
The couple ended two long, hard and emotional days with a baby brother and sister for their toddler.
Baby Rowley Townes weighed in at 10 pounds while Pencey Lake weighed seven pounds, meaning Mum was carrying a whopping 17 pounds!
The twins came into the world just one day before their dad's birthday, becoming the best birthday gift he ever received.
While it was an emotional time for the pair to not have the birth they wanted, it is an important message to all parents-to-be that sometimes things don't always go according to plan.
During birth it's always best to be mentally prepared for the unexpected, no matter how tough it can be to have your expectations turned upside down.
Just like The Kahlers, as long as babies are healthy, it's all that matters.
