This mum's inspirational wedding speech about co-parenting is too cute
Wedding speeches never fail to make us cry. We love to hear the father-of-the-bride share sweet tales from his daughter’s days in primary school. We can’t help but well up when the groom’s mum shares her words of wisdom with the newlyweds. Listening to the made of honour gush over their best friend melts our hearts.
One mum’s wedding speech about co-parenting has left us in floods of tears. Can somebody pass the tissues, please?
Before they said their vows, she asked her husband’s ex and her partner to stand. The emotional bride thanked them for accepting her as a friend and for letting her be part of son Landon’s life.
She said, “I promise to be an amazing mother to your son. I will love you guys no matter what comes our way. We are one family, always.”
"Parenting is hard yet amazing; but co-parenting? It’s a blessing. It was the hardest and best four years of my life,” she added.
She stressed the importance of being kind to one another, “I wasn’t just going into a marriage with Jeremy and needed his trust and respect, but I needed Casey's and Tyler's, too. One thing I promised, was to be ONE family, always. I know without hesitation, we will never break that promise.”
The emotional bride then asked Landon, who her husband shares with his ex, to come forward. The teary-eyed bride held his hand and said, “I have loved watching you grow and I will for the rest of my life. I’m so happy that I now officially get to be your bonus mom.”
The wedding guests couldn’t contain their tears, and neither could Katie’s husband Jeremy.
He broke down in tears as his stunning wife promised to always love and protect Landon.
She hugged the youngster as she reached the end of her emotional speech.
She understands that co-parenting isn’t easy, but it is worth it, “Not everyone gets the luxury of having a relationship like we formed; but it's possible to get along, communicate, and give the same rules/love/respect on both sides for your child/children.”
The mum encouraged other parents to follow in her footsteps, " Go against the norm. BE that CHANGE."
We love how inspiring Katie’s speech is!
