This mum's GENIUS trick will save you a lot of hassle during midterms
When you're a mum of more than one child, midterm breaks can be hard to navigate.
Unless your little ones are in the same school, they may or may not be off at the same time, particularly if one is in Montessori and the other in primary.
And if they are not off at the same time, one can be left feeling a little put out that their sibling gets to have a lie-in, and tantrums will likely arise (and who'd blame them!).
However, this mum's GENIUS trick will definitely make those mornings a lot easier. Helen Casalicchio, from Australia, is mum to three: two in big school and one in daycare.
Her older two were off school recently, while two-year-old Scarlett still had to attend daycare two days a week.
Posting on the 5 Minute Mum Facebook page, Helen explained that her little girl is a stickler for routine, and would realise straight away that her older sisters weren't going to school.
So the first day that Alexia, 7, and Lara, 5, were off, Scarlett was a little suspicious; she wondered why they weren't in their uniform and even packed the girls' bags and took them to the car. Helen just said that it was casual day at school.
The next day, however, Scarlett was not easily persuaded, and insisted that the girls put their drink bottles into their bags – she even went and got their uniforms ready.
Worried that her little girl would get upset, Helen decided that something had to be done. So she asked her older kids to put their uniforms on and pretend that they were going to school.
"They didn't want to wear it at first but we'd planned to go to the movies that day because it's something we couldn't do on Scarlett's home days, so I said to them, 'If you want to be able to go to the movies, let's do this!' she wrote according to Kidspot.
"So I snuck out and popped their change of clothes in the car boot and they changed in the car."
And while it certainly seems like a lot of effort to keep the peace, it is definitely worth it if it means everything runs smoothly in the morning. What do you think of her trick?
