Mum hides empowering feminist notes in her daughter's lunchbox

When we were younger, a good lunch day consisted of a banana that was still yellow and a sandwich that hadn’t yet turned soggy.

However, this mum has found a way of making every school lunch special for her daughter.

Meaghan Elderkin spends her evenings drawing inspiring messages for her nine-year-old daughter, Holden.

Starting off as just drawings of dinosaurs and jokes, Meaghan has now turned to inspirational messages for her daughter after the shock results of last week’s US election.

After Hillary Clinton’s election defeat, Meaghan said she “wanted to remind her daughter (and myself, I guess) that we’re still strong and powerful even when we’re afraid” she told The Huffington Post.

“A lot of strong women have come before us, and they’ve had to fight even scarier obstacles.”

Since last week, Meaghan has shared empowering messages from strong women like Susan B. Anthony, Amelia Earhart and Michelle Obama and received over 22,000 likes in just 24 hours.
