This baby X-ray machine is the weirdest thing you'll see all day

We had to do a serious double-take when we first saw this picture.

Our first thought was "why is that baby trapped in a blender?" followed by a good few moments of sheer confusion. 

It turns out that this tube-like structure is actually a cutting-edge X-ray machine for babies. 

While it may look uncomfortable, and almost cruel, the device is designed to position and hold infants during a scan without any significant complications.

Named the Pigg-O-Stat, the machine attempts to get a clear image the first time around, resulting in less exposure to radiation.
