This 89-year-old was a bridesmaid for her granddaughter

This is one of the most heart warming stories we've seen in a long time. 

Maureen Carney, 89, had always wanted to be a bridesmaid, but she wasn’t allowed to because of religious reasons. 

That was until her granddaughter, Rochelle, got engaged and insisted that she be one of her bridesmaids. 

Maureen attended all the pre-wedding events also, including the hen party, which consisted of a relaxing spa-day and cocktails.

The grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of six walked down the aisle in a beautiful beaded, blush-coloured dress. 

Maureen spoke to MailOnline about the day, saying “I got to wear the most beautiful dress I have ever owned in my lifetime. I had my hair and make-up done professionally. I got to spend time with my granddaughter and play an important role in her special day.”

It was a truly special day for Maureen and her whole family.

“I’ve always wanted to be a bridesmaid. I wish we could do it all over again! It was really a special day for both of us.”
