THESE things are guaranteed to happen on your 'relaxing' family holiday

It has been a stressful year.

The kids are on their summer holidays and you're finally able to take that well deserved relaxing break… the kids are coming too though!

Sure, your little one needs a break too, right?

You'll all be on holiday, they'll be on their best behaviour and you will all come back refreshed and relaxed.

Or will you?

Here are 10 things that ALWAYS happen on 'relaxing' family getaways with the kids:

1. You'll pack the new Marian Keys book

And every time you open it will be the moment someone decides they are hungry, tired or fall over and scrape their knee.

2. There will be arguments about bringing the favourite teddy or blanket

And then you'll miss your pre-booked boat trip around the bay looking for said treasured item when it goes missing.

3. You'll bring an extra family member to help out

Whether it's granny or a teenage cousin, the extra pair of hands you take with you to help out (AKA babysit), will think they are on holiday too and actually want to relax by the pool… the nerve!

4. You bring a mini pharmacy

Surely airport security will let you through with a bag full of drugs?  You never know what you might need.

5. Ice cream will diffuse all problematic situations

If you can't bribe them on holiday, when can you?

6. You'll do more cooking and cleaning than you would at home

You book a self-catering apartment for convenience sake and end up spending more time in the kitchen than at the pool.

7. You spend more on Internet data than you do on  paying for the actual holiday

But it will be worth it for the peace that Peppa and Paw Patrol bring to the few meals you get to eat in an actual restaurant. 

8. Someone will get badly burnt

And it will most likely be you because you've spent so long slathering the kids in cream, you've forgotten about yourself. You will spend the rest of the holiday looking for prime shaded spots by the pool.

9. You will pick a complex with a great Kids' Club

And of course they will refuse to go.

10. Someone will be travel sick

And it will be on a bus journey up a mountain and you won't have brought spare clothes.

The memories are priceless though!
