These baked French toasts are your perfect Easter breakfast

Hot cross buns + Easter chocolate = the most delicious breakfast for Easter.

Easter baked French toasts

Ingredients

  • 8 hot cross buns
  • 6 eggs
  • 700ml whole milk
  • 70g sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 150g Easter egg chocolate            

Method

1. Generously butter a baking tray. Cut hot cross buns into dices and spread on the prepared baking tray. 

2. In a large bowl, beat eggs, then add milk, sugar, spices and mix. Pour over the hot cross buns and let it soak for about 20 minutes. 

3. Heat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Scatter soaked buns with Easter eggs chocolate and bake for 40 minutes.

Chef's tip: you can prepare it the night before, refrigerate overnight and bake in the morning.
