These baby sleep tips will change your evening routine for the better
Whoever coined the phrase 'sleep like a baby', clearly doesn't have any children… because babies don't sleep (well, unless you are one of the lucky mums).
In fact, a lot of parents spend their evening pacing up and down the landing trying to get their little one to settle long enough to put them in their cot.
And whether you are a cry-it-out mum, a co-sleeper or a let's-leave-them-for-a-few-minutes-to-see-what-happens mum, most of us could do with a few tips to help make life a lot easier.
If you are struggling with bedtime, why not give the following pieces of advice a try:
1. Pop some white noise on in the background
This type of noise is really comforting for babies and can soothe them back to sleep if they wake up in the middle of the night.
2. Make sure their room is pitch black
A little bit of light can cause over-stimulation so try to keep the room as dark as possible when you are settling them down for the night. And if you do have to change or feed them in the early hours, keep the light to a minimum so they settle back down quicker.
3. Look at their day-time nap routine
Have you ever considered the possibility that they are sleeping too much during the day and so aren’t tired at bedtime? Or are not getting enough naps and are overtired at bedtime?
Why not make a few changes during the day depending on your child and see if these make any difference.
And if you have any tips that work for you, why not share them in the comment section below.
