The reason this little girl has her hand on her mum's arm is pure genius

Jessica is a mum-of-six girls, so you can imagine how busy her household can be on a daily basis.

Nonetheless, with the help of her husband Martin they have a pretty solid routine in the family home.

Her youngest daughter has had a hard time adjusting to the 'no interrupting' rule though.

All us mums put up with some pet hates from our loved ones, but more often than not there is always one thing that really grinds our gears.

And for Jessica, interrupting is one of those things she can't bear: "Certain behaviours are more triggering for me than others."

"I know it is developmentally normal. I understand why and how it happens. I even sometimes find myself doing it when I get really excited or think of something suddenly."

However, instead of giving out to her children, or punishing them each time they engage in interruption, Mum has come up with a pretty epic trick to keep the children from shouting.

Each time her kids need to tell her something while she's in the midst of speaking with someone else, Mum has simply taught them to put a hand on her arm.

When they do, Mum and Dad then know the children have something they wish to say, and they will kindly hold their hand, or place a hand on their back, letting the kids know they'll speak to them in a minute.

And just this week her youngest has finally caught on: "The last couple of days she has suddenly been using this practice!"

"And the shock has stopped me dead in my tracks to acknowledge it and hear what it is she needs to tell me. Lol"

This trick is definitely something we're going to be stealing, there's nothing worse when we're chatting at the school gates and your child is consistently screaming at 'mummy'.

Do you have any special tricks like this to help with your kids' bad habits?
