The emotional moment blind sisters see the world for the very FIRST time

Imagine if the only thing standing between our children’s sight was a 15-minute operation – and we couldn’t afford it.

Hard to, right?

But for many poor families in developing countries, this is the awful reality. Like sisters Anita and Sonia from India who were blind since birth, and although it was possible to restore their sight with the relatively straightforward surgery, their parents couldn’t afford it.

But now, thanks to the organisation 20/20/20, thousands of children, including Anita and Sonia, can avail of the procedure for free.

National Geographic has released an incredible video showing the girls’ reactions after the procedure – and it really hit up us in the solar plexus.

Watching their awe at being able to see the world around them for the first time brought tears to our eyes. While it was utterly wonderful to see their ecstatic reactions, it broke our hearts a little that so many children can’t see just because they can’t afford a short operation that costs around €300.

If you would like to help 20/20/20 continue with the amazing work they’re doing, you can find out more here.

SHARE if this video moved you to tears.
