Teacher sets a high standard by reinventing his classroom for new students
In an effort to bridge the gap between students and teachers, Kyle Ely, decided it was time to take action.
The teacher began by transforming his classroom, adding a touch of his imaginative personality, so that students could see he's human too.
Kyle explained: "I just wanted to show them a little aspect of my personality to start bridging the connection between teacher and student."
And when the students of Evergreen Middle School in Oregon arrived to their classroom on the first day, they were in for a real treat.
After 70 hours of creative work over the holidays, Kyle completely transformed his classroom into a wizard wonderland.
The Harry Potter themed room came complete with scrolls, memorabilia and a wizardry appearance like no other, as Kyle, a HP fan himself had collected many of the items since he was a young boy.
Speaking with ABC News, the teacher explained: “It’s not just a one-directional relationship where I’m just imparting knowledge onto them, but we can connect as human beings as well.”
Beginning the project five weeks before the students were due back, a lot of work went into the theme, with banners being hung on every wall.
"Seeing their faces light up made all the time and effort put into this totally worth it! We're going to have a fun year!"
Seriously, how amazing is this? We bet these kids will have no problem learning in such a cool environment.
