Teacher calls student and grandmother into her office, and insists they open the box on her desk
A Wisconsin teacher has surprised a student with the greatest gift in the world.
In the sweetest surprise video to date, we can see Jodi Schmidt, a teacher at Oakfield Elementary, give eight-year-old Natasha Fuller a kidney match.
Natasha has been sick since birth, suffering with prune belly syndrome, a disease that causes urinary tract disease and a need for dialysis.
The eight-year-old has been waiting on a kidney for a number of years, but with frequent infections she was never allowed stay on the transplant list.
So when her grandmother Chris Burleton put out a plea for a kidney on Facebook, Jodi thought she might be able to help.
The teacher, who is also a mother, spoke with her husband before they agreed it was the right thing to do.
And when Jodi surprises Chris and Natasha at school, it makes for some pretty emotional viewing.
Jodi sat in the office and presented Chris with a gift box filled with tissue paper.
Underneath the paper sat a card with the words: “It’s a match.”
Chris couldn’t believe her eyes, immediately beginning to cry.
When Natasha opens the gift moments later, she hugs her teacher, reciting “thank you” over and over.
This is one emotional story we won’t be forgetting for a while.
