'Stunned': Woman's flushed wedding ring is miraculously found nine years later
Losing your wedding ring.
It send a chill of fear through any married person, right?
This is what happened to Paula Stanton, who was cleaning her bathroom almost a decade ago when her ring fell into the toilet and down the drain.
The New Jersey woman was horrified – she thought she had lost her 20th-anniversary diamond-encrusted gold ring for good.
Paula said, ''It was heartbreaking. I was embarrassed to tell my husband because it was meaningful."
While her husband got a duplicate, Paula longed for her original.
She even enquired two years ago with Crew Chief Ted Gogol of the local public works department to see if he had came across it in his work – but he hadn't.
However, a member of Somers Point's public works department remembered Paula talking about the ring and a month ago, Ted Gogal saw a shiny object when doing work near a manhole 400 feet from Paula's house.
It was her ring.
When Paula and her husband came home from a Thanksgiving trip, there was a note on her door to call the public works department.
Ted said, ''That ring didn't want to leave her family. There are so many things that could have happened. It could have been washed away, it could have been crushed, but it was just meant to be."
Paula said, ''I was thrilled. Stunned. I could not believe it.''
What a magical Christmas present – we're sure Paula won't let that ring out of her sight again.
