Student finds long lost birth brother through DNA test- and he's in his college class
This is one of those stories that really makes you think about how small the world truly is!
Kieron Graham was adopted as a baby into a "super open and accepting" family. He was raised alongside three un-biological siblings, who were the only family he had ever known, until now.
"I wanted to meet my birth family because I've always been curious about them," Graham told Love What Matters. "I always wondered what they were up to and how their lives have been."
He know his mother and father's first names and that he had a biological brother called Vincent.
Last year, his adoptive parents gifted him with his own Ancestry DNA kit. Last week, Graham received the results back. He had matched with a Vincent Ghant.
He searched for Ghant on Facebook and realising that his date of birth matched those on the adoption papers, he sent him a message that would change both their lives:
Speaking to Buzzfeed News, Ghant said that he did not recognise Graham's name at first, as it had been changed shortly after adoption. But as soon as Graham said his mother's name, he knew they were brothers.
He even remembered Graham as a baby:
"I asked my mother about him throughout my life, but the pain was so heavy on her that it was hard for her to drum up the worlds to explain it to me…so it just got to the point where I was, like, I'll just wait for her when she's ready," he said.
Once the pair got talking they realised that not only were they in the same collage, but the were also studying the same thing, in the same year.
To top it off, they only lived 15 minutes away from each other.
Vincent, who's nine years older, had studied in an other university before taking some time off and eventually enrolling in Political Science in Kennesaw State University.
The brothers finally met at a local bar. Graham recalled Ghant telling him, "I've been thinking about you for 20 years."
The entire meeting, according to Ghant, was "very emotional." They also have an other younger brother that their mother raised.
For their birth mother, Ghant said the past few weeks have been an "emotional roller coaster":
"She's super excited, but half the time she's also sad [and] fearful. She wants him to understand why she had to do what she had to do. But overall she's very excited."
Wait, there's more. Graham has also found his birth father, and another half-brother.
"My birth father broke down in tears," Graham said, when he made contact.
Graham said that his birth parents have been extremely understanding and supportive. They hope to also meet Graham's birth mother and father.
Within a week, he's not only found both his biological parents, but three half-brothers, oh and one niece.
"I met his wife, mother in law and my freaking beautiful niece I never knew existed. What an amazing night!" Graham wrote about Ghant.
We're in a tizzy just reading about it!
