Stranger pays for mum's drink following 'hangry nap' episode
Being a mum blogger comes with it's perks and it's pitfalls.
Like everything really, there are ups and downs, but Mary Katherine Backstrom, felt the weight of her role recently while out and about.
When embarrassing scenarios occur, (trust us when you're a parent moments happen often), we are temporarily mortified.
But what happens when you're easily recognised as you spend your time sharing your life with the world?
Mary Katherine was in line at a Starbucks, waiting on her dose of coffee to help her through the day when her sleep deprived little nugget decided it would be a good time to play.
As in play with mum's dress!
"I walk up to the barista, order a nuclear dose of caffeine, a snack for the kiddo, and then… I feel a cool breeze. On my butt."
"It takes just a second for me to realise that my son has lifted my dress over his head, and is wearing it like a hat, with my granny panties and dimpled behind flashing for the entire world to see."
But that wasn't it, because as we all know, there's nothing our children love more than to add fuel to the fire : "He also spun around and my son wrapped his head up like a dumdum with my dress."
As MK began to unravel her son, the barista required the mum to finish her order, but her butt was still on display and it was really just a massive whirlwind of embarrassment.
"I am a mum blogger, y'all. It's great to have this large following and it goes with the territory that I get recognised occasionally. And hey…that's fun!"
"Except for when my son's head is literally stuck against my butt, shrink-wrapped like a lollipop, and he's panicking because he might just die back there and, really: Could there be anything worse?"
Nonetheless, that's when the mum is reminded of the perks and doesn't focus on the pitfalls; when she eventually unravelled her son, turning to pay for her coffee, MK is stunned to find out that a stranger had paid for her does of sanity coffee.
The kind man, who claimed he was a fan of the mum's musings, had paid the bill, but MK mused: "Now I'll always have to wonder if he's a fan of this page…"
"A fan of my parenting, or just a fan of that family circus that travels around Florida showing the world that no matter how bad your day is, you could always be a mum whose child got stuck in her dress, revealing her behind to an entire Starbucks."
Regardless, Mary Katherine, wanted nothing more than to thank the man for his kindness in her moment of embarrassment, revealing: "The latte was especially delicious with my humble pie."
How many times has a similar scenario happened you? We have given up counting!
