Starbucks have really expanded their parental leave policy
Parental leave has always been a hot topic in the media, with many companies choosing not to partake in fair leave for new parents.
Well, Starbucks is not down with that, and has increased it's parental leave policy in a major way.
Previously, Starbucks' policy allowed birth mothers to take six weeks of paid leave (receiving 67% of their full pay) after giving birth.
However, this has since been changed, for birth parents, adoptive parents and same-sex parents.
Birth mums working in Starbucks stores can now expect to receive 100% paid leave for six weeks, followed by up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave.
Employees working in corporate roles will get 18 weeks of paid leave, which is amazing.
Parents who are adopting can also take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave, which a brand new policy for the coffee company.
Big thumbs up for the wonderful people running Starbucks!
Let's hope other companies follow suit.
