Son and daughter find 'goodbye' letter and you will be reduced to tears

When Carson Daly and his sister were sorting through their mum's possessions, they never expected to find a letter addressed to them.

Their mum Pattie, sadly passed away in September, with the letter explaining all the things she wanted her children to know before she left this world.

However, what is most astonishing about this letter is the year in which it was penned – 1998.

Pattie penned the note to her children almost 20 years previous while she was in the height of her battle with breast cancer.

Taking to Instagram, her son, Carson, explained: "She clearly thought she might not make it. We never knew."

While the kids never knew their mum had considered she may not make it through, her 'goodbye' letter explains the love she had for them and the camaraderie families need to keep.

"Take good care of yourselves and each other. I am so proud of you. Each of you have brought me so much joy."

"Teach my grandchildren as you have been taught, live each day and celebrate life, it's God's greatest gift."

Signing off the note, Pattie assures her children she will always be there for them regardless: "You can feel my love even now, know I am with you always."

Advising anyone going through the same scenario, Carson emphasised: "This was 1998. She lived almost 20 years longer. She survived and thrived. Never give up."
