Single dad walks 18 km every day, until co-workers give him a life-changing surprise

21-year-old single father Trenton Lewis hiked 8 kms in the dead of night to reach work in time for his 4 AM shift.

After a day working at the UPS facility, he would turn around and walk the same distance again- while being the sole carer for his 14-month-old daughter.

For 7 months, he would hike through all weathers in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He never complained or told his co-workers about his extensive commute, taking pride in providing for his baby girl.

“My pride is strong,” he told local media. “Whatever she needs, I’m the person who is supposed to provide it for her.”

But eventually, the 'queen bee', Patricia “Mama Pat” Bryant, of the office found out, and was moved to do something for the determined young man.

“She was like a second mum,” Lewis said. “She actually got upset with me when she found out I was walking to work.”

Bryant and her husband, Kenneth, both worked for over 40 years at the UPS depot.

“For a young person to decide in their mind ‘if I don’t have a ride, if I can’t get a ride then I’ll walk,'” Kenneth Bryant said. “If a guy can do that, we can pitch in to help.”

The couple began to subtly share his story and gather money to buy Lewis a car. Together, they raised over $2,000 dollars.

“Everybody that I talked to said yes! The hardest part was reminding them to bring cash,” Kenneth recalled. “I told the seller what I was doing and who it was for and he said he was willing to work with me on a price.”

Telling Lewis that they were having a "union meeting", they lured Lewis to the car park, where they handed him the keys to his very own car.

This face was completely transformed with happiness and gratitude.

Watch the big revel here:

“God always has something for you,” said Lewis. “I’m never going to forget this ever.”

The first thing it he did with his new car? Brought his daughter out for dinner.
