Phew... So, we only need to wash our bras after ‘several’ wears
Underwear: the one type of clothing you’d expect should be washed after each wear, but we’ve got some good news where your bra is concerned.
According to Lexie Sachs, a product analyst at the Good Housekeeping Institute, we only need to wash our bras after they have been worn several times.
Yup. Not after every use or even every second day…
And while we’re not quite sure what constitutes as several wears – three, four, ten? – Lexie says that is down to us (bit risky, no?), and our activity level (or lack thereof).
"It's very personal and really it depends on your activity level," she told USA Today.
"Or if you are somewhere really hot and humid, you want to wash it just as you would with another type of clothing you would wear, but if you aren’t sweating a lot and wearing for regular use you can do it every few wears."
The product analyst also said that the more we wash them the worse they are for it, as it can contribute to wear and tear.
But when we do – finally – throw them into the machine, Sachs recommends we pop them into a mesh washing bag to help them hold their elasticity.
Phew, at least we don’t have to feel guilty about our lack of bra washing anymore.
