Parents send their daughter to her granny's house... then receive an invoice

No joke – we grew up in our grandparents house.

We were fortunate enough to live close-by, therefore we completely took for granted their presence in our lives.

We ate their food, slept on their couch, took over their day-time TV, and made them comfort us when we came in from play-time with a million bruises.

Aside from our parents, they were our other constant, we loved and admired them, loving nothing more than spending quality time listening to their stories from old.

As Jennifer Lopez once sang, Love Don't Cost A Thing, and when in the presence of our grandparents that's exactly how we felt.

But J.Lo was wrong, so very, very, wrong, and we're hoping our parents don't see this and get ideas!

In a letter to the Washington Post, a woman who aptly went by the name of 'Burned by Grandma', explained what happened when she sent her daughter to stay with her grandmother.

Not alone did Mum send her daughter to Grandma's, but she sent a $300 cheque along with her child for expenses.

Now, growing up we're pretty sure our parents weren't dropping $300 every time we were dropped at nana's for a few days, so naturally we thought this was a lovely gesture.

Wrong again.

Because when this little girl was going back home, she arrived back to her parents with a rather hefty invoice in tow.

"Upon my daughter's return, my mother sent me an invoice for $475.50 for additional expenses, including the cost of gas to and from the airport to transport her, train tickets to go to the city to a museum and the cost of the museum admission."

"Neither of my siblings has a relationship with my mother because she is petty and doesn't respect boundaries, like a $300 budget," added the furious mum.

We don't even know what to think about this to be honest – we're flabbergasted.

What do you think? Was a $300 cheque generous enough or was Granny dead right?
