Ouch! So, THIS is how powerful a baby's kick in the womb can be
As every mother knows, a baby's kick in the womb can be a lot more painful than you'd think, considering their size!
In fact, according to a new study, an unborn baby's kick can reach a painful 10lbs of force…
The research, which was conducted by experts at Imperial College London, analysed 341 MRI scans of unborn babies at 20, 25, 30 and 35 weeks.
With the help of a special computer programme, researchers measured the force of the baby's kick and the stress it causes their bones.
And what they found is pretty incredible!
According to the study, which was published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface, the force of a baby's kick goes from 6.5lbs of force at 20 weeks to 10.5lbs at 30 weeks!
But don't worry, the strength of the kicks decreases to 3.8 lbs of force at week 35.
This is likely due to the fact that the foetus has less room to move around in later pregnancy.
This study highlights what we already knew: that the female body is INCREDIBLE.
