'My name is Alanna and I have a broken heart': Can you help?
Baby Alanna was rushed to hospital less than a month ago, with fears that the young girl had pneumonia.
Sadly, however, while it turned out that Alanna, who is a twin, didn't have pneumonia, doctors found something much worse: multiple viruses attacking her tiny heart.
Frighteningly, the little girl's organs stopped working and doctors in Dublin advised she move to Newcastle for better treatment.
Here it was discovered that baby Alanna, who has a twin brother, Charlie, and an older brother, Cameron, needs a new heart.
A fundraising page was set up on GoFundMe in a bid to raise enough money so that the little girl's family could all be together in Newcastle.
Her mum Leslie is caring for all three kids on her own following the tragic death of her husband, who passed away while she was pregnant with the twins.
"Little hearts are precious, so I might be waiting for a while," the page reads.
"It’s been tough for my mummy and my brothers, who have had to stay strong for me.
"This has been a very scary and upsetting time; my Daddy passed away unexpectedly a year and a half ago while I was still in my Mummy’s belly.
"It’s been hard without him, and my family really need me to get better. My mum and brothers have moved to Newcastle to wait with me."
So far the campaign has surpassed the $5,000 target, reaching over $27,000 in just five days.
"Any donation you are in a position to give will go to keeping my family close to me while we go through the unimaginable. I am so very sick, but my twin, Cameron and older brother, Charlie need their mum too. We all need to be in Newcastle. My family would appreciate donations and also prayers."
