Mum’s post about her body after children is 'confidently' striking a chord
Meredith Masony is a mum-of-three who would be mainly known as Ms ‘That’s Inappropriate’ through her blog work.
But the mum has something very appropriate to share and we are so on board with her honesty.
Noticing some scattered grey hairs when heading to church, Meredith decided:
“I've earned this. I'm OK with this.”
“I am so happy that I am now able to embrace those imperfections and welcome these changes.”
That’s because Meredith is every mum out there following the birth of her children; her body changed in ways she couldn’t comprehend, but finally she has now come to love and appreciate what she has.
The mum shared:
“When I was in my early twenties I was super critical of my body. I was never satisfied with my looks. I wanted to be thinner, tighter, and I wanted breast implants.”
“Now that I'm 36, I have to laugh. I wasn't able to appreciate my body back then. I think part of that was because I didn't really know who I was. I was insecure and lacked confidence.”
Most women encounter the same problem throughout their youth, but as we develop into the true world of adulthood, (racing around like headless chickens after our dear chickens), we realise this is us.
After 12 years, Meredith realised her body’s appearance drastically changed:
“I have had three children and four surgeries. My nipples have been eviscerated by breastfeeding. My tummy looks a bit Frankensteinish. I have cellulite and stretch marks.”
“I was so afraid of my imperfections being seen.”
However, her advice for women out there going through the same insecurities or transformations is something which should be adhered to:
“As women I think it is very important that we own our bodies. We need to own our personalities. We need to own our choices.”
“I have learned to love myself. As a result of loving myself, my relationship with my husband is stronger. My relationship with my children is stronger.”
“If you are struggling please know that you are not alone. Your insecurities do not need to rule your life. Your imperfections make you amazing.”
“They make you strong. They make you courageous and unstoppable. If you are lost, I promise you are still in there. Keep searching.”
“You are enough. You are beautiful. You are perfectly imperfect.”
And we couldn’t agree more.
Meredith, that is one serious confidence booster – we hope all you mums out there are paying attention.
