Mums of boys, you NEED to know about the #StillABoy campaign
As we mums know, the healthiest thing for our children is to let them be themselves. When we give them the freedom to explore who they are – and support that, it helps foster life-long self-esteem, emotional intelligence and self-worth.
This is especially true with young boys.
Criticising them for not behaving like ‘little men’ or forcibly trying to change their behaviour if it’s too ‘effeminate’ at such an early stage in their lives can cause confusion, self-doubt and low self-esteem.
And anyway, as far as we’re concerned gender is FAR more fluid than ‘society’ makes out. Boys like pink, girls watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. No biggie.
So when we came across the Instagram campaign #StillABoy by mum Martine Zoer, we loved the message so much we just had to share it.
The gorgeous account shows pictures of boys doing things that might be thought of as typically female – but the way we see it, because they’re doing it, it’s male, it’s female, it’s natural.
Now mums all over the world are posting their pictures and hashtagging them with #StillABoy to show their support.
Enough of the labels we say!
