Mum struggled with two small children in supermarket- until a kind stranger stepped in
Mum-of-two Rebecca Paterson has a busy life. The mother of two boys aged two and two months, she was stressed and sleep deprived during a trip to the local super market.
As toddlers and babies tend to do- both of the boys started having simultaneous meltdowns in the middle of the store.
Starting to quickly put items back to leave the store, she was approached by a stranger. She explains what happens next in a Facebook post.
"Shout out to this wonderful, kind woman named Tiffany," she wrote.
"She walked with me while I got the essentials needed for the day and kept hold of my toddler while he calmed down."
Rebecca continued to say that Tiffany "saved" her:
"I am so sleep deprived and running on empty. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way. I'll definitely be paying it forward if I see a poor mum in need of help."
The post, originally shared in a local mum's group, quickly went viral with thousands of likes and shares.
Speaking to local news sources, Rebecca said that when Tiffany was “very calm and very sweet. You could tell she was kind.”
“I said go ahead and do your grocery shopping, and I'll just hold Jacob and I'll talk to him,” Tiffany recalled. “I picked him up, put him in my arms, (and) I talked to him with a soothing voice.”
Rebecca snapped a sweet and candid picture of the two of them together. Both of the mothers have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and attention the post has received.
“It really touched me,” Tiffany said. “I know how it is. I've been there. I have two kids, it's frustrating, and that baby is 2 months. You have hormones going…and people are looking at you crazy, and I just wanted to help. God sent me there to help her.”
Rebecca is extremely grateful for the small act of kindness, which is something she's not going to forget for a long time.
“Kindness and understanding goes a long way, and I think it's true, because I didn't feel judged. I had a helping hand, and I needed it at the moment.”
