Trish O’Neill is a mum-of-two (who’s about to be a mum-of-three) and a self-confessed coffee lover.

So, as you can imagine, she has a very busy household.

But getting a place in school for her little man, Conor, has proved to be a long and difficult process for the busy mum.

Conor suffers from autism which led to difficulties in securing a school for the youngster.

Posting to her blog BlarneyMum, Trish has announced that after all the hard work and stress; Conor will now be going to school in September.

Trish had applied to seven mainstream schools that had Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) units before securing a place.

ASD units allow children with autism to integrate at their own individual pace while being around other children their own age.

Conor has worked incredibly hard to get to where he is, working with a home tutor, and his mum could not be prouder of his achievement:

"It will be a challenge for him but an important step in his development. I think he will enjoy it. I am thrilled to know that this [work] can now be built on over the coming years.”

But the mum is also experiencing a mixture of emotions that many mums can relate to:

"I am relieved, scared, excited…its a mixture. Overall just thrilled because it was starting to look like he wasn't going to get a place – and once again be treated differently because he has special needs."

On her excitement knowing that Conor will be in a school, around children his own age, Trish added:

“Today is a good day, and I am focusing on what we have, and what Conor will have – a Chance. Just like everyone else.”

Well done Conor, what a hard working little man, this is news that makes us smile.
