Mum shares heartbreaking picture of her baby boy for the most incredible reason
Holly and Alex Graham adopted baby Jaxson when he was just six-weeks-old back in 2014.
The couple had always wanted to take in a baby with Down syndrome, particularly Holly whose childhood friend had DS, which is how they came to be mums to little Jax.
Sadly, while their journey to adoption was smooth enough, the Graham's first few months as a family of three were not as they were in and out of hospital a lot.
Jaxson was diagnosed with a heart condition and the youngster had to have open heart surgery at just 11-weeks.
Thankfully, everything went well and Jax is now a happy, healthy three-year-old boy.
And on his "heartiversary", his mums took to Instagram to pay tribute to their little boy.
"Three years ago pretty much down to the minute we handed our tiny 10lb, 11-week-old Jaxson over to an extremely talented team of surgeons, nurses and RT's for an open heart surgery to correct a large AVSD," they wrote.
"In a big way I have always looked at this day as the first day of the rest of our lives.
"It was like we couldn't move on until this giant hurdle was overcome.
"This surgery came with complications that kept him in the hospital for almost a month with a few more extended hospital stays following."
Thankful to have that trying time behind them, they continued: "We are so thankful to have this all in our past. Its hard to believe 3 years has already gone by, but in a way it feels like a lifetime ago. Today we are celebrating 3 years with a whole heart."
Aw, happy heartiversary, Jax!
