Mum shares devastating truth about never owning her forever home

We’ve been daydreaming about our future home since we were tiny toddlers. As young adults we couldn’t help but put together Pinterest boards titled ‘our dream home’, however, back then we didn’t realise how difficult buying a house can be.

One mum has opened up about how her dream of owning a ‘forever home’ will never come true. She shared the devastating realisation on Mumsnet.

“I have recently realised that I will never have a “forever home” and I am feeling rather sad about it,” she wrote.

The mum admitted that she isn’t a fan of the term ‘forever home’,  “I actually really hate that expression but you know what I mean – a house that I am happy with, that suits my family’s needs, etc.”

She revealed that even though she has a house, it isn’t the one she dreamed of living in.

“It’s okay but it’s small, cramped and not where I thought I would end up long term – however, divorce etc got in the way and here I am.”

She explained that the reason why she’s feeling sad about never owning her ‘forever home’ is because she hoped she would be able to move somewhere else, somewhere better.

“I thought that I might move. I am due to receive a small lump sum of money soon and I got quite excited about the idea,” she shared.

Unfortunately, she realised that even with the extra money: “I can’t afford to buy anything nicer/bigger and never will.”
