Mum pleads for all parents to be like one dad whom she's never actually met
We all want to be just like someone else at some stage or other.
We don't want to entirely morph into that person, but sometimes we admire qualities in others which we would love to see in ourselves.
We vow to channel that quality, sharing our new found character with our kids, our partner, our family.
It is easy to do as well, to stand back and admire; however, to share what we have learned with others is the ultimate goal, spreading that love.
Quinn Kelly, writer at, Sanctification and Spitup, has been standing back for some time, admiring the view which presented itself at the baseball field each week.
But she has now decided to share her admiration with her followers, pleading with others to be the parent she sees in the dad she's been looking up to.
"There’s this dad that I watch sometimes at the ball fields. He doesn’t know it. But he always impresses me with his gentle spirit. You see, his child is not the best ball player, but you would never know it."
"Because he cheers him on as if he’s watching Jose Altuve in action. He comes to every game as he carefully manages his other kids. And he believes that his time is well spent whether his son does anything magical or not," commented Quinn.
The mum-of-four has been watching the scenario play out for some time, taking on board the character of this one father: "He smiles as he swings. And walks over to encourage him whether he scores or whether he strikes out."
"And as I watch him talk to his son, I can tell that little boy knows he 'has' his dad. In the same way that a pitcher knows he’s got his catcher. You see, his son knows his dad is always on his team."
"And whether he’s the star of the game or whether he does nothing that stands out, his dad never lets on that one makes him more proud than the other."
Quinn finds the attentive father inspiring, as he watches on with sheer love and pride at his children.
"He just watches. And beams love. And I can’t help but pray, that we can ALL be that dad for our kids."
Often in the heat of sport, our competitive side can strike, nonetheless, we feel we could all take Quinn's story on board – how beautiful would it be for our children to know it's not all about winning, and a lot to do with effort and unconditional love.
