Mum pays tribute to her children after their family home is destroyed

Allison Kimmey lost her family home in September of this year, when Hurricane Irma hit Florida. It was left completely unrecognisable, and Allison and her family were forced to live in seven different places, sleep on “floors/couches/beds” and live out of suitcases.

However, throughout it all, her children, Graham and Cambelle, showed resilience and strength, And the mum-of-two wanted to tell the world just how incredibly proud of them she is.

Taking to Instagram, Allison, who frequently shares inspirational posts on the social media page, wrote: “Most of the reason I have kept it together through losing our home to Irma is to be strong for these little humans.

“But in the midst of trying to be strong for them, they have shown me what strength truly looks like.”

Sharing the incredibly hard journey the family have had to endure over for the past four weeks, the blogger explained that when the time came for her kids to go back to school, they “didn’t miss a beat”.

“They are joy filled and happy even without all the toys, or their own bedroom, or even their own home,” she continued.

“They have taught me a lesson in cherishing our existence and not our things.

“The money comes and goes. Bodies change moment to moment. Status can change in an instant. Belongings can disappear before your eyes.

“But love. And tenderness. And compassion. And faith. And empathy. And respect. And strength. These things are ingrained in our being.

“And if we hold on tight to the essence of being who we truly are and showing up together, there's no better way to celebrate this life.”

Their resiliency is inspiring. Most of the reason I have kept it together through losing our home to Irma is to be strong for these little humans. But in the midst of trying to be strong for them, they have shown me what strength truly looks like. In the last 20 some odd days we have driven over 3,000 miles, lived in 7 different places, slept on floors/couches/beds, and living out of a suitcase. And yet Graham and Cambelle didn't miss a beat when it was time for school to resume, even driving to and from in the dark. They are joy filled and happy even without all the toys, or their own bedroom, or even their own home. They have taught me a lesson in cherishing our existence and not our things. The money comes and goes. Bodies change moment to moment. Status can change in an instant. Belongings can disappear before your eyes. But love. And tenderness. And compassion. And faith. And empathy. And respect. And strength. These things are ingrained in our being. And if we hold on tight to the essence of being who we truly are and showing up together, there's no better way to celebrate this life. I have thanked my children each day, and prayed over them, but I just want to publicly say that my children are MY rock. And I feel beyond blessed to be on this journey with them. Tell a loved one how you feel today. We all need to feel love and appreciation. Just do you babes! Xoxo Allie ______ Photo by @sarahperryphotography

Explaining her reasons for her public post dedicated to her kids, Allison wrote: “I have thanked my children each day, and prayed over them, but I just want to publicly say that my children are MY rock.

“And I feel beyond blessed to be on this journey with them.”

Such incredibly inspirational words, we’re sending the Kimmey family strength and love.
