Mum lists the things she's been called a 'bad mom' for, and people are loving it
Mum-of-two and fitness blogger Sia Cooper has been on the receiving end of one too many nasty, mommy-shaming comments.
The Diary of a Fit Mommy blogger has been called a ‘bad mom’ more times than we’re sure she’d like on social media, and she’s had enough of it.
“If I had a nickel for every time I’ve been called a “bad mom,” I would be soooo rich!” Sia wrote under a photo of her drinking wine while her son plays on his iPad and her daughter stuffs her face with chocolate.
“It seems almost impossible to be a textbook or politically correct good mom these days because everywhere you turn another mom is judging your parenting choices. Am I right?”
Sia has been called a ‘bad mom’ for doing normal things, like, working out, not ‘covering up’ around her kids and for taking time out for herself. Because God forbid she actually retains a bit of her self after giving birth.
But that’s not all. In a bid to highlight the issue of parent shaming, Sia shares the reasons people call her a bad mom:
“I’ve been called a bad mom for:
“Working out during pregnancy.
“Working out while having kids… period.
“For caring about my looks and health.
“Working out in Target.
“Using canned goods and plastic crockpot liners.
“Having tattoos and piercings.
“Enjoying wine every now and then.
“For letting my kids use technology.
“For letting my kids have sugar and happy meals occasionally.
“For not “covering up” around my kids.
“For running a full time business from home.
“For co-sleeping with my kids.
“For collecting sports cars and motorcycles aka having a hobby.
“For taking time for myself.
“For having abs.”
But, as Sia quite rightly explains, these things don’t make you a bad mom – the bad moms are actually the people who judge others.
“I’ve learned that the true “bad moms” out there are the ones who constantly tear other moms down by judging them,” the fitness blogger wrote on Instagram.
“Those moms are the ones who are truly insecure and have strong feelings of inadequacy because why else would they do that? Misery loves company.
“There’s no one right way to parent or to be a mom. We all are running in the same race and doing the best that we can.” Sia’s words have clearly resonated with a lot of her followers.
“My wife and I are right there with you! Keep killing it!” wrote one fan.
