Mum leaves behind heartfelt letter after losing battle with cancer
One mum has left behind the most emotional open letter after losing her battle with cancer. 46-year-old Jenny Thirlaway was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017.
The mum sadly passed away on Tuesday, July 17, but she made sure to leave something very special behind for her family.
Jenny posted an uplifting open letter on her brilliantly named Facebook page ‘Elvis may have left the building but Jenny is in no hurry to leave the bloc.’
She wrote: “So, my lovely family, if you're reading this post then it means I’ve left the bloc and that journey we started over a year ago has changed direction.”
She thanked everyone who supported her during this difficult journey.
“Your words of encouragement, support, love and kindness, never mind all the acts of these, have shown me, but more importantly Molly and Jack what a wonderful place our world can be.”
Jenny went on to praise her other half Scott, who has been her anchor. “Thank you for being at my side, teaching me lessons in patience, being humble and dignity. You have no idea how much I will miss you.
“I know with 100 % of my heart, mind, and soul that our children are in the safest hands with you as their dad.”
Jenny thanked her parents for making her final few weeks extra special. “Molly and Jack are lucky that they will continue to have you in their lives,” she added.
“I’ve met some incredible people on this journey either on their own personal journeys or in their professional capacities. Each one of which has taught me a great deal, but also treated me with respect and dignity, and because of you,” the mum wrote.
She thanked her friends and family for the impact they had on her life: “I’m a very different woman as I leave you as I was when I started this blog and that’s all in a positive way. So thank you for that.”
To end, Jenny added three pieces of advice:
1. Go out and do a random act of kindness for someone. Just pick a stranger and do something kind.
2. For all you ladies out there, red lippy is a must for the day.
3. Last but not least get yourself into a bar and order yourself an amaretto sour and toast love, kindness, friendship and fun.
