Mum in shock after giving birth to 14 pound baby
Ladies, brace yourselves, because a record-breaking baby has been born.
Isaac David Guerra Machacon born at the Cienaga Polyclinic in Magdalena, Columbia, weighs a whooping 14 pounds, one ounce.
Born via C-section on the 2nd of December, his parents were understandably surprised.
Speaking to local media, his mother, Diana, said, "I really did not expect him to be this big. I mean, he looked big on the ultrasound scan, but I never imagined quite so large."
"I am over the moon and Isaac is so beautiful," she continued. "But most of all I am happy because he is healthy."
Diana and her husband, David, have had to buy new nappies and baby clothes as the newborn fits babygros meant for a five month old.
According to the gynaecologist that presided over the birth, Isaac was born healthy and without major complications:
"At first the baby recorded a little breathing difficulty and we had to monitor his blood sugar levels as episodes of hypoglycaemia are not uncommon in larger infants. But everything is now normal and the baby is feeding well."
The heaviest birth ever recorded was 22 pounds, the current record for a living child 16 pounds.
