Mum hits back after she's told her child is 'too old to breastfeed'

Whether a mum decides to breastfeed or not is entirely HER decision, as is when she feels it is appropriate to wean her child off the boob.

However, as with most things when it comes to parenting, there are a few people who feel the need to pass judgement on when you should stop nursing.

Judgement Kristy Kemp is sick to her teeth of hearing.

So the mum decided to do something about it, and took to the Breastfeeding Mama Talk Facebook page to outline the "reasons why her child is not too old to be breastfed".

Highlighting that the World Health Organisation recommends breastfeeding ‘until the age of two or beyond’, the mum starts off her post by saying:

“This means, according to WHO, there is no cut-off age in which a child should be weaned. I will listen to that recommendation, what my child wants, and my heart, before someone’s uneducated opinion on the matter.”

But she doesn't stop there, and continues her post by sharing the benefits of breastfeeding, touching on the fact that it "is not just about milk".

“I’m his comfort, security, nourishment, and more," the mum wrote.

"Why the rush to rip away something that is so good and beneficial that I’m willing to keep giving for however long he wants me to?"

Not surprisingly, Kirsty's post has garnered a huge amount of support, as she writes how the only person who should decided when it is time to stop nursing is her and her child.

“If any of the above reasons are too complicated for you to understand, how about this: this is my body, my child, my boobs. So, no one gets to decide when my child is too old to breastfeed but me and my child,” she added.

What an incredible post.
