Mum does something incredible to mark her late son’s ‘first day of school’

Mum-of-five Courtney Scott’s young son Carsyn sadly drowned in a neighbour’s koi pond.

He was just 15-months-old at the time.

Last year, Carsyn would have been five and starting kindergarten, an occasion Courtney from Florida didn’t want to pass by without any acknowledgement.

And she decided to pay tribute to her young son by doing something pretty incredible.

With four other kids at home, Courtney knew the day would come when all her friends would be posting first day of school pictures.

Something she had dwelled on for a long time.

However, she decided that she needed to do something in his honour and memory instead, something that would benefit others.

And that’s exactly what she did.

Setting up 'Carsyn’s School Supply Drive' Facebook page, the mum felt that the best way to pay tribute was to collect and supplies for her local schools.

“I want so badly to be able to walk into schools on the first day with these supplies in hand knowing my sons "first day of school" meant something,” she wrote on the dedicated Facebook page.

“I would love to make this HUGE so any donations will be accepted. Please help me honour my son and make this amazing.

Incredibly, Courtney’s fundraiser raised more than $1,500 worth of markers, glue, pencils and backpacks, which she delivered to seven school.

The Parenting Masterclass with MummyPages takes place on Saturday, 21st October. Book now and get your place at a choice of workshops including First Aid, Money Matters, Weaning, Bullying and Mental Health.
