Mum's Life

Mum calls her son 'a little sh*t' and says people should just 'deal with it'

Mum-of-three Renee Platt recently shared a post on Facebook in which she calls her son Hamish 'a little shit'.

Most parents wouldn't dare even think like that of their child never mind share it with her 26,000 followers, but Renee doesn't care.

In fact, the mum has a point to make. And it's a pretty important one – something you'll realise when you get to the end of the piece.

Tired of being called the mother of the naughty kid, the fitness blogger decided that something needed to be said – and admitted that there are plenty of parents who no doubt feel the same as her.

"You know what? I am tired of being the mother of the naughty kid, honestly it’s exhausting and I know right now some of you are nodding your head feeling me," she began.

"The others are the ones who look at me when he’s not being all perfect like your children were or are. I’m the mum of the wild 5-year-old boy in the shops excited about all the possibilities that he could walk out with.

Continuing, Renee explained that her five-year-old son is not the kind of kid who will sit quietly at family get togethers or whisper in the library. Instead he's more likely to throw a tantrum in the park, or talk in the cinema, and, Renee admits, it can be exhausting.

"I’m exhausted – he wears me out, he pushes me to my limits, he upsets me, he yells, he teases his sister, he fights with his brother, he does what he wants and it drives me insane," she continues in the post.

"He doesn’t care too much for rules instead likes to create his own. He is covered in bruises because he plays hard, his hair never stays neat for long because he loves to somersault and rough house, he won't sit still to read a book for long, nor will he top the class in spelling just now. His school uniform comes home filthy each afternoon and he can never keep track of his readers or library books."

But it's the last bit that explains why the mum would not want to change her little boy at all. His boisterous ways show his strength and character, and she knows that in the future these will play in his favour.

"He is brave, he is strong, he is outgoing, he is charismatic, he is a gentleman, he is intelligent, he is articulate, he is funny, he is tech savvy, he is street wise, he is bold, he is mine. He is an engineer, he is an astronaut, he is an explorer, he is a politician, he is a soldier, he is a cowboy, he is a networker, he is a manager, he is a CEO, he is Alfa. He is a little shit right now at times, but he loves hard too, and I am one of the only ones who gets to see his quiet, tired love.

"These little boys aren’t just naughty they are game changers, watch this little package of energy do something great, this naughty boy wont settle for anything less than what he wants. That’s how you need to be wired to be great. Watch this space."
