Little girl writes letter to Disney asking them to create princesses who wear glasses
Lowri Moore is a girl on a mission.
The nine-year-old, who comes from Nottingham, has been a glasses-wearer since she was one-year-old.
And now she wants to see the princesses she watches in Disney movies to be bespectacled too.
The schoolgirl has peened an impressive letter to Disney's CEO Robert Iger asking to have more characters that look like her.
Thanks to @natalieowen2924 for designing a princess with glasses. Lovely 9 year old Lowri came on @BBCNottingham to explain why more @disney princesses should look more like her. Welcome princess Lowri! We think she’s gorgeous @cyrilynsilver pic.twitter.com/JUZZol2R4A

Lowri said, ''I wanted to write the letter to make a difference, I don't want other girls to think the way I did. When I was younger, I would take my glasses off to play princesses with my sisters, even though I really can’t see without them.''
She continued, ''I am now old enough to know that I am beautiful with glasses, but now I feel sorry for younger girls who may not realise yet.''
Her parents Cyrilyn and Brad are founders of children’s charity Operation Orphan and are so proud of their daughter and hat she is doing.
Designed by the lovely @natalieowen2924 – can’t wait to see Lowri’s story come to LIFE. @wdjstraw great to talk to you on @BBCNottingham this am. We’re super excited about collaborating to take the negative connotations away from wearing glasses! #beautiful @ClearlyWorld @Disney pic.twitter.com/slzA8Nz8o1

The letter read:
''I have worn glasses since I was a baby. I’ve grown up watching Disney princess and I’ve always admired them and thought they were beautiful. Unfortunately, none of them wear glasses and that made me feel like I wasn't beautiful enough.
So I hope that you understand and please may you make a Disney princess who has glasses. I feel like there are lots of little girls who wear glasses and I don’t want them to feel like I did…it would help people to know they are beautiful no matter what.''
Lowri is now waiting for the company to reply but in the meantime magazine designer Natalie Owen has turned Lowri into a beautiful glasses-wearing Disney princess.
Lowri's mother Cyrilyn took to social media to praise the illustration that has brought to her daughter's idea to life writing, ''We’re super excited about collaborating to take the negative connotations away from wearing glasses!''
We think that this is a fantastic idea and hasn't come a moment too soon – well done to Lowri.
