Keep the kids out of mischief with these really fun mid-term events
There are plenty of events happening this mid-term to keep the kids happy (and out of mischief!).
1. Mid Term at The Ark, Eustace Street Temple Bar
Saturday, 28th Oct – Sunday, 5th Nov; various times
This mid-term, become a dance music producer in this music technology workshop especially for ages 8+. Part of the Bram Stoker Festival 2017. Make great music using just a computer and your own musical imagination. Learn how to use music technology using a programme called Abelton Live that is used in professional music recording studios. Once you’ve got the hang of the basics there will be a chance to try out making your own dance track, or maybe have a go at more advanced options like remixing or mashing up your favourite tracks. After that the sky is the limit as to what music you can make. Tickets €11/€8, Sat 28 Oct & Thurs 2 Nov, at 10:30am (Ages 8-9) & 2pm (Ages 10-12). Duration: 2.5 hours.
Come along to this fun workshop with families and friends and enjoy learning to sing a number of well-known fun songs together as one big group and turn them into fun new spooky versions with gothic harmonies, strange vocal sounds and crazy other-worldly improvisations thrown in for good measure. Finally (weather permitting), this pop-up choir of deadly singers will invade the outside for a flash mob performance of these new supernatural songs for all to hear. No prior experience needed. Tickets €11/€8 per child. Accompanying grown ups go free. Sun 29 Oct @ 2pm, for ages 7+ and their adults. Duration: 90 mins.
Get in the spooky spirit with Dracula’s own DJ spinning the decks and scratching vinyl for our outdoor family music and dance party. Don't forget your costumes! Part of the Bram Stoker Festival 2017 and presented in partnership with Temple Bar Cultural Trust . This year we take Dracula’s Disco outside to Meeting House Square where DJ Will Softly will be playing all the latest hits for you to enjoy complete with confetti cannons to inspire some seriously deadly dancing. This fun-packed and energetic DJ set will be perfect for young zombies, ghosts and all music-loving monsters. Come along in costumes of any kind and make up your own graveyard dance moves. The Ark is delighted to welcome for the first time Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre with this beautiful show for our youngest audiences (ages 2-7) entitled Strange Feathers. Two birds are hatching into the world. Join them on a journey of discovery, as they hear the sounds of nature, see colours for the first time and learn how to fly. Mixing aerial circus, dance, live music, colourful lighting, and soothing sounds, these friendly birds and their feathers will enthrall the whole family. This is an engaging and humorous interactive, non-verbal show, specifically designed and created for young children. There is a mask-making workshop before the performance and children have an opportunity to meet the three performers after the show and explore their world of feathers and instruments.
Strange Feathers made in Association with Riverbank Arts Centre (Ireland), is a co-production between Fidget Feet (Ireland), Riverbank Arts Centre (Ireland) and the Bird & Bat (Iceland).

2. Trick & Treat at IKEA
Saturday, 28th Oct – Sunday, 5th Nov; 11am–4pm
This October and Novemmber, IKEA will be running Halloween-themed activities in its Ballymun store that are sure to trick and treat mini-shoppers. Spooky storytelling, face-painting and a magician performing ghostly magic tricks are all top billing at IKEA Ballymun this mid-term break.
And, to complete the family fun day out, kids can enter the IKEA Haunted Living Room which will be decorated with skeletons, ghosts and ghouls. Each child will be gifted with a free photo to take home as a keepsake.

3. Science Magic with Donal Vaughan, DLR Mill Theatre
Saturday, 28th Oct; 1pm and 3pm
Treble-award winning Irish comedian and science communicator Dónal Vaughan brings his hugely successful science magic comedy to dlr Mill Theatre.
Prepare to enter the magical world of science. Forget Harry Potter, Dónal is the real wizard. Always exciting, sometimes messy, kids will learn about pressures, density, force, chemical reactions, the fire triangle and acid and bases. And they'll laugh their pants off while they do it!
And the best part? Kids will be able to do all the tricks at home using everyday household items (well maybe not the best part for mums!).

4. Trouble in the Kingdom of Enchantasia, DLR Mill Theatre
Monday, 30th Oct – Saturday, 4th Nov; 2.30pm
Ofegus Theatre return to dlr Mill Theatre this Halloween mid term break and once again there is Trouble in the Kingdom of Enchantasia!
The Crown Princess has vanished! On her throne sits her cousin, Prince Archibald. His decisions are impacting badly upon the Kingdom, his rulings are unjust and causing great turmoil and unhappiness. Anyone daring to oppose him is thrown into the Dungeons of Darkly Drear! What evil plot is afoot? Can Tristan, a young Knight of the Royal Guard, find the Princess and restore order to the land before it is too late!
Don’t miss this tale of magic, adventure and breath taking derring-do! From Trouble in the Kingdom of Enchantasia audiences can expect a show full of magical fun and adventure that everyone – from 4 to 104 – will enjoy…. and want to come back for more!
