'I'm so proud': Cynthia Nixon reveals her son is transgender
Cynthia Nixon took to Instagram on Friday to praise her son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) for coming out as transgender.
'I’m so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes who graduated college this month,' the 52-year-old actor captioned the photo. 'I salute him and everyone else marking today’s #TransDayOfAction.'
Seph is one of Cynthia's two sons that she shares with her former partner Danny Mozes. Nixon is now married to her wife Christine Marinoni with whom she has a 7-year-old son, Max.
Nixon is currently running as the Democratic candidate for Governor of New York and has been vocal about her support for the LGBTQ+ community and their rights. Her social media is filled with images and videos of the celebration of Pride in New York. While she voiced her happiness at how LGBTQ people were having 'greater visibility and acceptance' she went on to say that, 'members of the trans community are at a much higher risk of experiencing violence and discrimination. Today, and every day, we stand with trans New Yorkers!'
Miranda Hobbes would be proud, right?
Trans Day of Action, in its 14th year, took place on June 22nd. The occasion is obviously close to the actor-turned-politicians heart as she champions Seph's announcement during Pride.
Some commentators echoed their support saying, 'Congrats to him!!!!!! Thanks for being such a supportive parent and person in general' and 'Congratulations to Samuel. Always be proud of who you are!''
Nixon herself identifies as bisexual and was awarded with the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award on February 2018.
One Insta post championing both her son's college graduation and LGBTQ rights shows that Nixon is one cool and supportive mum.
