Husband learns how to apply make-up after his wife loses sight
It's the type of love story we all dream of growing up. Meet the love of your life, grow old together and have a relationship that's worthy of the Notebook.
While we may have thought that love like that only exists in a movie script, this sweet story is sure to change your mind. Be warned: it may bring tears to your eyes.
When Mona Manahan, 82, started to suffer from deteriorating eyesight, her doting husband Des, 83, stepped up to the plate in one of the most important ways – learning how to apply her make-up.
Losing your eyesight brings with it a range of challenges. For Mona Manahan it meant the simple pleasure of putting on her makeup became near impossible – so her lovely husband Des stepped in to help. And ladies… a pearl of wisdom from Des… "Less is more" pic.twitter.com/c526vrrQCK

Des turned to make-up artist Rosie O'Driscoll to help Mona to get ready for a birthday party. When Des offered one too many pieces of advice to Rosie she handed over the brushes to him. Little did she know what would happen next.
“If you just see the way he holds the brushes, he’s a natural,” Rosie told BBC Breakfast.
So touching is the story that it has captured the hearts of people all over the world. Not least the attention of A-List make-up artist to the stars Mario Dedivanovic, who invited the married couple to a make-up masterclass.
“I called my manager and told her I wanted to invite Des, Mona and Rosie to The Master Class and we had to make it happen,” Mario said. “My heart felt so full seeing them there in front of me.''
You really couldn't write this stuff!
In fact, Des got so into it that he is now taking make-up lessons from Rosie at the department store, much to the delight of his wife of 56 years.
The couple show that love can really last a lifetime when they say that they’re just happy to take care of each other in their golden years.
True love really does exist, huh?
“We’re not trying to look like 30-year-olds or 40-year-olds or 50-year-olds,” said Des. “We both love each other as we are at 83 and 82, which I think is enough.”
While this is melting your heart, don't forget the most important piece of advice from Des when putting on your face – ''less is more.''
