Husband gets a huge shock when he sees his wife for the first time in a year

When Gunnery Sergeant Taylor returned from a year-long deployment in Afghanistan, he had no idea what was waiting for him when he landed.

Gunny is stationed in California while his family lives in Maryland; he isn't expecting to see anyone until he goes home. 

"The media is full of military men and women surprising their families upon their return from deployment, but it is very rare to see a military member get surprised by their loved ones," the wife wrote under a video she shared on YouTube. 

"My husband has been in Afghanistan for the last year. He was one of the last group of Marines to come back from the war. Because he is stationed in California and our kids and I live in Maryland, he didn't think that anyone would be there when he returned. But I showed him!"

And showed him she did!

In the video, you can see Gunnery walking his troops towards a crowd of people. He is then seen saying his hellos to those around him – unaware that his wife is standing right beside him. 

But then he spots her, and his faces instantly changes. 

Overwhelmed with emotion, he just bursts into tears – a moment that makes us well up. 

The couple then hug for a long time, delighted to be reunited.
