Hungry Hippos: Watch this hippopotamus make light work of breakfast

As a pet owner, you might think that your animals are impatient to be fed in the morning.

But then again, you haven't met Bubbles.

One of four hippos that reside in Fort Worth Zoo, Bubbles has an impressive set of teeth.

Keen to show them off, and to stink his teeth into some fresh fruit, the hippo is clearly hungry for some breakfast.

Opening up his mouth, the animal isn't waiting around to find some food.

In the video, keepers launch some watermelon into his mouth, and the enormity of the hippo becomes clear.

Bubbles shares the habitat at the zoo with Poppy, Jonsey and Daisy.

It seems that the early bird catches the worm as the others weren't seen at feeding time.

On Facebook, the zoo captioned the video: "How does the saying go … “the early hippo gets the fruit?”

Perhaps Bubbles pipped the others to the peg by rising earlier and had the advantage of enjoying a breakfast feast for one.

Bubbles' morning snack included some carrots and apples too.

The slightly strange clip has caught the attention of plenty of social media users.

The video has racked up thousands of views, and the draw seems to be Bubbles' teeth.

Although we can't say we are too surprised by that, we imagine these set of teeth may be every dentist's nightmare.
